The individually designed en-suite guest rooms each have French doors inviting you to the private patio and beautiful landscaped gardens beyond. Our nearest restaurant is just five minutes by car. A perfect location to explore… and rest awhile, if you’re driving the North Coast 500 miles.

Walking is splendid at any time of year, take a walk to the ruins of Old Wick Castle or Castle Sinclair Girnigoe at Noss Head. Visit Dunnet Head and see the giant sea stacks at Duncansby Head, a bird watcher’s paradise. Caithness has 25 harbours and 8 lighthouses on its rugged coastline. In the summer months, visit the Castle and Gardens at Mey, the holiday home of our late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, on the drive out from the Castle, look out for seals at Harrow harbour. The spectacular beach at Dunnet Bay is formed in a great crescent from Castlehill to Dunnet. Early breakfast can be arranged for Guests taking the ferries to the Orkney Islands, from Scrabster (20 minutes) or Gills Bay (35 minutes). Tours leave daily from John O’Groats (40 minutes) by car, includes 1 hour passenger ferry and guided coach tour on Orkney from May - September. We are fortunate to source fresh and tasty produce from our neighbours’ farms, beneath the big Caithness skies, as well as locally fished salmon, smoked in Caithness or on the beautiful Orkney Islands. Take a leisurely stroll around the gardens, through the pine trees and meet the hens that lay their delicious eggs for you.
